If you start to follow me, you will learn that I love to do Theatre. I am part of a local theatre group called Mane Stage Theatre Company. We are a start up theatre group but we strive to put on professional productions not community theatre. Not that there is anything wrong with community theatre but we want to be better than that.
Currently, I am playing Mrs. Bennet in a musical production of 'Pride and Prejudice'.
On Sunday, we had purchased our first laptop and I was very excited to play with it. So on Monday I ended up losing most of my day playing with it. As a result I was running late for rehearsal. It was tech week and I was suppose to leave at 5:15. But I was so caught up playing with the computer that I didn't realize what time it was until a little before 4:30. I hadn't finished helping the boys with their homework, done my hair or make-up, and I hadn't started dinner for the boys. I rushed around the house like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get everything done. It was 5:15 when I finally got the boys dinner done. I yelled at them to eat fast while I finish getting ready and when they were done to get there stuff together because we needed to leave ASAP.
Well, as they sat down for dinner, my oldest son, Harrison, decided to see if he could pull the table cloth out from under the plates without spilling anything. As it turns out, he can't. MacGregor's food flew from the table and splattered on the floor. Lipton noodles, ham and cucumbers all over my hardwood floors. MacGregor was very upset. I looked at him and started to repile the food onto his plate. I looked into his tear filled eyes and asked "Do you mind eating the food off the floor." He looked up at me so sweetly and said, "No Mom, I don't mind."
I was sure he would be fine, but I still felt guilty and selfish. I was in such a hurry to do something for myself that I let my child eat his dinner off the floor. Hey, the ten second ruled applied, right?
